The 10 Best Comics Featuring Green Lantern John Stewart

Even though numerous characters are have gone by the name Green Lantern, the most famous being characters like Hal Jordan and Alan Scott, the name “Green Lantern,” is a mantle. The Green Lantern Corps is a galactic force of space cops dedicated to keeping peace. John Stewart was the first Black Green Lantern introduced in Green Lantern #87 in 1972.
Green Lanterns are given a ring imbued with energy by the Guardian of Oa that enables them to project hard-light constructs powered by willpower and imagination. Usually there is one main Green Lantern who patrols Sector 2814, or Earth.

Stewart is a former Marine who became the lead Green Lantern in the mid-1980s. Stewart soon became a fan favorite. The character featured prominently in cartoons and was almost featured in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film but was later cut out.
