How to Keep Up With Your Home Without Spending a Fortune

If you need to improve your home but can’t spend any money, then you can do a few things to improve your home. Some homeowners may have recently gone through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing and are expected to appear at a meeting of creditors hearing 30 to 45 days after filing the case. This means minimal repairs must be done to give your home a facelift in 2024.

Add Filters to Your Water

If you have well water, then there is a chance that you either have hard water or you could see these types of changes in your water soon. According to Forbes, nearly 85% of homes have hard water. To beat this, you can add water filters to your home so that the water goes through the filter at the well and a filter through the faucets to remove the excess minerals. Hard water will leave stains in your home and on your appliances, so you will know it’s working when it starts to reduce.

Window Curtains

The next best thing you can do to save money and boost your home is to have large window curtains and drapes around the windows where the sun gets in and out. If you don’t have the money to upgrade the windows, you can invest in heavy and thick curtains that will keep the sunlight out and reduce the heat coming into the home in the warmer months. This will also help fight a draft when it is cooler and reduce your energy use. According to the Department of Energy, up to 25% and 30% of your warm air is lost through a drafty window.

Reduce the Clutter in Your Home

It is easy to accumulate many things in your home, and the best way to save money is to remove the waste by decluttering each room. Starting in the kitchen, make sure you go through the cabinets and the pantry, removing anything outdated and unused. Take this same energy and match it in all bedrooms, play areas, and closets throughout the home. You can even take some of these items and donate them to second-hand stores, getting a tax write-off to apply to your next tax year.

Go Wireless

When you look at your living space and the bedrooms that have electronics, see if you can see the wires hanging from the different appliances. Now is a good time to hide the wires that may be hanging or exposed. In just a few minutes, you have transitioned the look of this space from something classic to a more modern, chic look. Tuck them away into the wall or behind furniture only takes a few tricks.

Bring In Some Outdoor Elements

If you want to embrace the things growing in your yard and bring some outdoor freshness into the home, spend a few minutes outside. Grab a few vases you have tucked away and pick some flowers, sticks, leaves, and dried pampas grass to bring into the home. You can make it smell fresh and give it a new look without spending a single penny.

Rearrange Your Furniture

If you feel like a little change will make the home better, take a few minutes and restructure the design of your furniture. It is a good idea for the living space and dining area to see about changing the views and positions of the furniture. Add that mentality to bedrooms and offices to give new views to enjoy. It won’t cost you anything, but you will feel like you have a new home.

There Are Options Available

If you want to have your home keep up with trends but not spend a lot of money, there are some small things you can do to diversify the space, make it your own, and not have to take out a personal loan to do it. Some changes don’t have to be big to make a big impression and improve the overall quality of your life.
