You hear a lot about bullying in the news these days. Whether it’s kids at school, college students entering a fraternity or sorority, players in professional sport, or people on the Internet cyber-bullying, it’s an issue which has gained wider attention as a problem in society. The good news is that it’s an issue people are more willing to talk about today than in the past. The bad news is that it still exists, and it exists in many different forms. Now the website Credit Karma has developed a short test so you can see if you’re being financial bullied by your partner.

    I understand that financial bullying is a real thing, but this test seems a bit superficial. a lot of those questions can be answered in a way that may imply a person is a bully when in fact they are simply trying to save their family’s finances because one partner has a spending problem. This could give some people the notion they are being bullied when in fact, their spending is the problem.

    I think that it might wake some people up who are in financially abusive relationships. Yes, it can be used to see something that really isn’t there by those who spend too much, but it can also maybe open the eyes of someone who is being money manipulated in a relationship. I think that’s the purpose of it here.
