What Stores are Open and Closed on Easter Sunday 2016?

what stores are open on Easter Sunday?

One of the worst things that can happen when you want to go to a store is to arrive to find that the store is closed. This situation often happens when there is a holiday, and the store you plan to visit has closed for the holiday. With Easter Sunday just around the corner (March 27, 2016), many people want to know whether their favorite stores are going to be open or not. Below is a list of what is and isn’t open on Easter Sunday.

Yes, Walmart is open Easter. If you are looking to buy last-minute Easter supplies or have some unexpected purchases that you need to make, you can go to your local Walmart and it will be open.

No, Target is closed Easter. There is quite a bit of confusion each year as to whether or not Target stores will be open or closed on Easter Sunday. Many sources on the Internet say Target will be open, but this isn’t true. Target stores stay closed on Easter.

No, Costco is closed Easter. Easter Sunday is one of seven holidays that Costco closes for the day. If you need to do some shopping at Costco, make sure that you do it on Saturday since it will be closed on Sunday. Costco will be open on Easter Monday.

Grocery Stores

Yes, most grocery stores are open Easter. This is especially true of the national chain grocery stores. Most Safeway and Kroger grocery stores should be open, although Publix grocery stores will be closed. If you do the majority of your grocery shopping at a local, independently owned grocery store, your best bet is to look online at their website or give them a call to confirm what their hours will be, and if they are open on Easter.

Drug Stores

Yes, most drug stores are open Easter. The three big drugstore chains (CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aide) will all be open on March 27. Local and independently owned drugstores may or may not be open, so it’s best to call them directly to find out if they are open, and what their hours are if they are.

It Varies. There is no set standard on whether a restaurant will be open or not on Easter. If you plan to go out to eat on Easter, your best bet is to call the restaurant ahead of time to make sure that they will be open, and what their opening hours will be.

Gas Stations

Yes, most gas stations are open Easter. While there may be a few exceptions to this rule, the vast majority of gas stations will keep their normal Sunday hours on March 27. If your regular gas station happens to be closed, there should be plenty of others in the area where you will be able to fill up your tank with gas.

Banks, Credit Unions and Post Offices

No, banks, credit unions and post offices are closed Easter. Even TD bank which is usually open on Sundays won’t be open on Easter. The reason that most banks are closed is not because of the Easter holiday, but because they are closed on most Sundays. Banks, credit unions and post offices will be open on Easter Monday. ATMs and online websites for banks and credit unions can be accessed, and many banking transactions can be done through those even though the banks and credit unions are closed.

They just cost more due to the money they pay their workers, and have all those huge brand new stores. I do agree they do cost a lot more. But,it is worth it not to deal with the people of Wal-. LOL And support a company that actually cares about their workers. Happy Easter. Also Dollar General by me. I love the prices and how clean it is. And no having to go to Wal-Mart.

  12. DB says:

I agree 100% with the above statement. I have a Wal on one corner and a Pub on the other. I will always pay extra at Pub. Clean stores, courteous staff, easy in and out. My time is valuable to me. If it gets crowded they will actually open more lanes!

  23. Tricia says:

Hey I have an idea… why doesn’t everyone plan ahead? That way it won’t matter who’s open and who’s not! Write up a list a couple days before and add items as you think of them then go get everything the day before that way you’ll be sure you have everything you need to eat a meal at home and can stay off the road. Most of you can’t drive anyways and should probably stay out of your cars as much as possible. Problem solved you bunch of pansy wankers.

  24. Jg says:

Some people don’t have people to enjoy the holiday with and simply would enjoy getting out a little do they don’t have to be alone. Great to have a few places to go although it is sad to make people work a holiday if not really a need like healthcare situations.
