11 Ways to Save Money at Wendy’s

No matter where you go out to get a burger, it’s good to have some tricks up your sleeve to save a bit of money. This applies from McDonald’s to Smashburger. Wendy’s is another pretty popular fast food chain and while many of its menu items are under $5, there’s always a chance you can save a little bit of money when you visit. Here are a few different ways to save money the next time you visit Wendy’s:

There are tons of coupons online and in your daily paper for menu items at Wendy’s. You know those inserts you get with your Sunday paper? Don’t throw them out without flipping through all the coupons to see if there are some you can use at your local Wendy’s. These coupons can range from a buy one, get one free deal to $5 off coupons. Many sites geared towards coupon clipping are also a great place to look for Wendy’s coupons.

Gift Cards

Wendy’s gift cards are sold at 100% of their value at retail stores, but you can also find them on the secondary market. You can find them for as much as 10% off their retail value on eBay, CraigsList, or at gift cars resellers like Junkcard, Gift card Bin and Monster Gift Card. If you go there often, this can save you quite a bit of money.

Wendy’s twitter account is a great place to look for coupons or promotional deals. Many companies love to interact with their customers on social media, and this often means that they’ll try to ramp up interest in their product by holding contests or promotions. Following Wendy’s on twitter is also a nice way to know about deals or specials you might have otherwise missed.

The company’s facebook account is another great place to look for promotional offers or coupons. If you scroll down the main page of their facebook account, you can see a few examples of past promotions and deals. Checking their facebook account may save you a couple bucks in the long run.

Mailing List

Like most big companies, Wendy’s has their own mailing list. Called Wendy Mail, it’s a monthly newsletter that alerts you to changes in the company or on the menu, company news, and special offers. Newsletters are always a great source of insider info when it comes to coupons and upcoming promotions, so if you’re definitely interested in saving money at Wendy’s, it might be a good idea to sign up.

Wendy’s often has promotions available in its stores that are geared towards helping you save money. They currently have a promotion that asks you to donate $1 for a keychain tag that will support the adoption organization they partner with. For your donation, the keychain tag enables you to a free Jr. Frosty until the end of the summer. So, for a $1 donation, you could essentially have a free small dessert for the next few months. It’s a good idea to keep your eyes open for any similar promotions during the rest of the year as well.

Order from the Value Menu

The Value Menu, Wendy’s version of many fast food chains’ dollar menu, is a much better choice for your money. Instead of buying a combo meal priced around $4 or $5, you can just order the same items off the value menu for $0.99 apiece. If you’re looking to fill yourself up, it’s a much better deal to order three burgers off the value menu instead of buying a combo meal with sides you may not even finish.

No Drink

No matter where you go out to eat, ordering a drink is always going to make your final total go up. Most of the time, you may not even finish half of that drink. If you’re just stopping for a quick bite to eat, do you really need to order a large fountain soda as well? Try and ditch the drink order the next time you visit Wendy’s.

Don’t Buy Extra

One of the mistakes many of us make at restaurants is buying more than we need. It might be tempting to buy a medium instead of a small, especially if that price difference is about $0.50 or $1.00. However, if you’re trying to save money whenever you go out to eat, try ordering the cheaper options or just enough to fill you and not any extra sides or add-ons.

Did you know that Wendy’s has a mobile app? When they first introduced the app, one of the perks for downloading it was a free menu item. Like a lot of other business apps, there are occasionally special perks for members. However, the Wendy’s app allows you to load money onto your phone and pay from the app. If you’re a frequent Wendy’s customer, this is a great way to track how much you spend per week or month, which can possibly help you limit the amount you spend at each visit.

Provide Feedback

Occasionally, Wendy’s will offer coupons if you take part in a survey about their products and service. Of course, it’s important for you to be completely honest about how you feel about their establishment and their food, since constructive feedback is the only way a company can really fix any problem. But a coupon for your trouble is a great form of payment, and a great way for you to save a little more money during your next trip.

  1. My favorite of the fast food chains. If you like the chicken nuggets, getting two 4-piece rather than a 6-piece costs a little more, but is a better value.
