Every time I hear of someone doing this at Christmas time, I’m reminded of the Seinfeld episode where George gave Christmas donations in his co-worker’s names to “The Human Fund” – a bogus fund he created in his mind because he was too cheap to buy his co-workers a gift. Funny stuff!

Usually I just say “nothing” to relatives and they oblige. For people who have too many things, I make personalized calendars, with pictures of their family, the newborn grandson or the last family reunion showing on each page of the calendar is usually appreciated.
