I shop and travel very little, so I don't think I get that much from my AARP card in the way of discounts on those types of items, BUT the membership does give you a subscription to the AARP magazine and the AARP Bulletin. Both filled with new articles and handy advice especially when talking about Medicare, money issues that effect seniors, etc. Considering the cost of magazine subscriptions these days, this a great deal because just finding one bit of advice that saves you $20+ pays for the membership.

Many places don't require an AARP card to give senior discounts. I get senior drinks now whenever I'm at a fast food place which is a big savings compared to what a small drink usually costs.
