Fall and spring are big times for festivals, state fairs, and carnivals. Many people assume that these offerings are cheaper than visiting a major theme park. That’s not always the case. Most theme park admissions are all inclusive. You pay at the gate and then all of the rides and shows are included (except for special shows and games). Most fairs, on the other hand, are pay as you go. You’ll probably pay an admission fee, but then you must also pay for every ride and game that you want to enjoy. With some rides costing as much as $8 apiece or more, it won’t take long to approach the cost of a day at a theme park plus a night in a no-frills motel.
