I disagree with you. Consumers do have the responsibility to do their due diligence, but I just came back from attending a number of timeshare presentation in Las Vegas and the timeshare sales people bent the truth, left out important information and in some cases outright lied. Not giving all the facts or heavily tilting the facts to ones favor instead of giving the truth while heavily playing on people's emotions is manipulation plain and simple.

If more people were turned away from timeshare sales presentations, the industry would be better off. Bribing people with tickets, dinner shows, etc. is an antiquated marketing method.

The main reason timeshares are so costly (from the developer side) is because of the extremely high marketing costs. Someone has to pay for all those free breakfasts and gifts, right?

As for "manipulation" there is none, period. If consumers don't ask the right questions, believe "free" and "perfect", then it is their fault.
