Is it my imagination as a non-gambler that since the machine says to play with a 'token' that $1000 won't even feel real until they open up their next credit card statement?

All that money wasted is such a shame as many of the people that gamble, if they would just use that money to help cover expenses wouldn't be pinning all their hopes on winning the lottery some day to get themselves out of a financial mess.

Dan, what you say about the lottery is so true. Here in the UK 'You've got to be in it to win it' is the advertising slogan the lottery use. The other way people pacify themselves is by saying - well it's for charity. Yes, and for profit and what a big fat profit that is.

I started work at fifteen (a while ago now) and there was a 'sweepstake' for the big horseraces at the company. It was very hard to say no and so I handed over my money - and always lost. It was a good thing, I have always resented handing over hard cash for a gamble and rarely, if ever, do.

I bet the odds are a lot better than the lottery and it appears the top payout is $1,000,000 from the photo. If someone spends $20 a week on lottery tickets, they could spin the $1000 slot machine once a year -- might make them think twice about playing the lottery as much as they do and a good reply to all those that say "if you don't play, you can't win" I think a lot more people would have a problem doing a $1000 slot machine spin that paying $20 a week on lottery tickets even though the odds are much better with the slot machine.

I'm sure that is why they have that $1000 slot machine there. It's a common way to make things appear cheaper to customer's and get them to buy more expensive things than they would normally do. When i ran a bar, we would always have a high priced drink right above our special that we wanted to promote. The special was for a relatively expensive drink, but it looked really cheap next to the other item and a great deal. it worked well and we sold a lot more of that liquor than if the higher priced drinks wasn't highlighted above it.
