Jay, I made sure my friends knew all the mess we went thru while paying off debt, I complained, emailed, fused, cried and preached to anyone who'd listen. Now when we say our budget won't allow us to do something, nobody says another word; they're afraid it'll get me started again ;) But hearing about our struggles also helps my friends stay on their debt payoff wagon too. Great article!

The problem is that once you have your act together, your friends who don't have theirs together will look at you and see how easy you have it today. They can't/won't see the kind of crazy work it took to get where you are.

I really sympathize with your friend regarding finding the right vocation. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do with myself career wise. Many of the things I thought I wanted to do turned out to be less than enthralling options.

I usually tell myself to just keep on trying. It's really reassuring to hear someone else say this and then point out that it actually worked for them.
