Isn't it amazing how much fun you can get out of your garden. Quality time with the family, excellent fulfillment value and great food to top it all off. I can't see too many other pasttimes which give that much (oh and some exercise too).

Very good interesting article Jeniffer, and filled with some good advice and information.
I am fortunate to live in a sunny & warm climate where I can grow lemons, apples, four different types of grapes, pomegranates, okra, corn, potatoes, rosemary, mint, etc., plus many beautiful flowers.
It's so peaceful to be out back gardening and watching all of the birds coming to the feed and water stations. They sing so beautifully!:)
For me, gardening is one of those fun exercises, like swimming. You can really benefit from it physically.
Another plus, is that it can be very relaxing for the mind and it does seem to reduce your stress level as well.
I learned gardening from my parents and my grandparents. After becoming interested, I went to the library to get other books on gardening. I also belong to several online gardening clubs where we swap seeds with one another as well as hints, tips and other information. This club is free to join and you just send a self-addressed stamp envelope to the person that has the particular seeds that you want. Most are organic and some are heirloom. It's wonderful!
Growing my own organic vegetables and fruits has reduced my grocery bill tremendously! I also earn an additional income by setting up a produce stand! I sell a lot of what I do not can and put up in my food pantry. Some I give to a local senior adult daycare center who love the fresh fruit and veggies.
So many benefits for so many people!
Thank you for allowing me to comment on your article and to express my opinion.
Enjoy your day!
