    I have a 1 year old niece and I can’t wait for her to grow up so I can buy her first glove and start playing catch with her or kicking a soccer ball back and forth in the yard. I played a lot of youth sports and I know a lot about them but this article touches on some important points.

    I do agree that parents should not over commit their kids – one sport per season sounds reasonable to me. However, I think that professional coaching, even though it is not necessary for many players, can be beneficial for some, provided you have the money and the time. DEFINITELY look into what equipment is appropriate for your child to avoid unnecessary expenditures, and shop around for the best prices. I also agree that you should let your child decide whether or not he/she wants to continue playing a particular sport…after all, it is supposed to be enjoyable.
