What an eye opening post. I don’t have kids, but this opens my eyes to what’s around me in my own environment here in a London suburb. There’s lots of music, small museums, theatre and so on locally that that I would usually ignore.

Thanks for your comment. I agree completely with your approach! Playing with family and friends is always preferable to expensive outings. I never saw my kids or their friends argue about what to do when they were out in the yard but the arguing always started as soon as they got into the house!

For my kids, I’ve learned that the most fun they have is seeing their cousins, and that’s free. So we have started arranging a get-together at grandma’s once a month, and the kids play together in the YARD. No Miley Cyrus, no video games, no expensive outings. Its a blast. Save money, get to know your relatives.
