Money Confession – Wedding

Almost everyone keeps a secret or two. After the presentations I give, I ask the people attending to anonymously write down a money confession. I share some of the more interesting ones here with you. This is confession number 51 in the series:

“I spent $28,000 on my wedding. The marriage didn’t last 3 months.”

Hahahahaha, good! You deserve it. Weddings that cost that kind of money for one day is just dumb. One of my old friends spent $75k on his daughter’s wedding. They were both virgins up until the honeymoon. Turns out they were NOT sexually compatible (I will let your imaginations run with what that could mean) and were divorced within 9 months. $75k, gone forever. Hahahaha, oh man just too funny.

That is a hard and expensive lesson to learn, but I have found that those who want fairytale weddings tend to have an image of marriage that is unrealistic.

Sad story, but $28,000 is actually a mid-priced wedding nowadays. She probably didn’t go that overboard!
