My cat loves plastic easter eggs. She likes them to be taken apart. When they get in a corner she can pick them up with her mouth and drop them back in the middle of the floor.

Wine corks! Every time we sweep behind the couch we find at least a dozen that the fuzzy guy has batted under there. Also, my old cat loved, LOVED, wrapped peppermint candies.

Some of these are good ideas, but not the yarn or rubberbands, as they can choke on these, and also I would not recommend the twist ties from the bread. If they are the ones with wire in them, they can swallow them and punture there esophagus, stomach, intestines, etc, or cause an obstruction, and you will have a REALLY BIG Vet Bill if they survive!

My cats like to play with plastic drinking straws. They do chew on them a little, but I have yet to see them chew through the straw enough to get a piece off. I do watch them when they have one and put it away when I’m not around, as well as trim down the ends when they get too chewed up and might become hazardous.

YEah, we use a lot of these. But I don’t encourage the cat with the rubber bands, and the string and ribbon goes out of her reach when we are not around. Those are very dangerous. Well my cat will for sure eat them. Depends on the cat too.

Many of these items I wouldn’t recommend because they can be easily swallowed, which is something you have mentioned, but i don’t think most people will be willing to follow their cat around to watch them the whole time as they play, and it only takes a second for this to happen. Rubber bands are especially dangerous, and cherry pits don’t sound like a good idea.

Any kind of bird feathers, particularly something larger, like a peacock feather or goose feather, fascinates my cat, but generally we play ‘together’ and i don’t leave her alone with it.

A piece of suede string or a shoelace also works well.

Our spoiled cat is incredibly picky about his toys. His favorites: laser pointer, kitty heating pad (which he wrestles with), and a specific brown stuffed mouse with a long tail with a poofball on the end. He just loves that mouse. My ankles moonlight as a cat toy from time to time also.
