I am the opposite. I use almost 100% cash and stay away from credit cards. I know how I'm supposed to use credit cards, but if I have them I just get into financial trouble so I just don't use them. I think it's a travesty that this is happening.

I agree on the second point but not the first. Yeah, I wish they'd make it a generic card. But my life is now 99.5% cashless, so what really would be the point of using cash in the game? I don't even buy fast food with cash anymore. I even give my kids allowance by transferring $$ into their bank accounts. The youngest ones get cash, but I'm not sure that any lessons from the game of Life are going to help them spend that $25. The point of the game is the BIG purchases and decisions in life, and those are all cashless now. JMO...I still the game would be more fun with cash, but if we're talking educational value, I'll go with the plastic.

granny: I'd might be more inclined to agree if they weren't getting rid of cash completely and if it wasn't blatant branded advertising from a early age.

My comment may surprise you. I'm a mother of 9, grandmother of 12, and a LONG-time player of the game. And I'm very conservative and do appreciate the nostalgia of the game. But really, how many of our kids are every going to handle investments and college education and a mortgage with cash? They're going to do it with cards and I think that this chance to teach them about that is very valuable! I've never been crazy about the Bank of America/Visa franchise, but that's beside the point. If we want games that will teach kids about the past, we should use the old version. If we want to use it as a tool to prepare them to handle their own finances, let's not fight the 21st millennium :-)
