Have you ever wished upon a star? Perhaps you should stop looking out the window and instead wish on your computer.

The RobinHood Fund is an online community unlike any you’ve ever seen before. Members submit wishes: actual, honest to goodness wishes that are tied to a money value and classified as naughty ( i.e. slightly selfish) or nice (i.e. obviously altruistic). Other community members vote on the wishes, deciding which ones are the most worthy, and after a determined amount of time certain wishes are granted and the checks are cut.

Sounds way too good to be true, doesn’t it…

Well, the crew at The RobinHood Fund realizes this concept might be a bit hard for a pessemistic society to swallow, so they have a specific page of their site detailing wishes they’ve recently granted. One gentleman was awarded $10,000 so he and his wife could travel to Mozambique to create an orphanage with Iris Ministries. This is obviously a ‘nice’ wish. Don’t fret, though: the concept is set up so naughty and nice wishes are granted as equally as possible. Another $10,000 was awarded to a man requesting digital film equipment so he could ensure “The Defeat of Stephen Spielberg in film to film combat”.

In addition to the two big winners, the page details approximately 50 smaller wishes that have been granted, at a rate of approximately two per week. When it comes to the weekly wishes granted, members were granted anywhere from $7 to $500 and the wishes ranged the entire gamut, including home heating oil, computers, paying debts, medical bills, start-up money for a business, and an Ab-Lounge.
