What Personal Finance Blogs Are Worth
I was fooling around with the new Text Link Ads Calculator (we do not use Text Link Ads on this blog, but do use them on some of our other sites) and realized that this gives a peak into the value of personal finance bloggers sites in comparison with others. While the actual numbers given by the calculator for the worth of a link need to be taken with a grain of salt, it compares all the personal finance sites with the same standards to give a value where the perceived value of the blog can be compared to others. Here are some of the more popular personal finance blogs that I found that the calculator gave with a worth over $100 (I used “finance” as the category, “1″ as the number of links to be sold and “sitewide” for the link and the top right corner as where the ad would appear):
There were also quite a few of the blogs that came in at $95. Mine came in at the low end of the list at $152, but the one that surprised me the most was the Real People, Real Finances Network that came in at $190. For all the finance bloggers out there, the above list are the competition you should be shooting for.
I also had to do a comparison of the big personal finance sites out there to my main site to see how we are doing and have come to the conclusion we still have a long way to go. We are at the bottom of the heap at $285. Here are a few of the sites I compared:
Guess this means I need to get back to work…

My site comes in at $11 - so pfblogs can’t mean me with his “it seems like most people are trying to make a quick buck rather than developing content first” comment :0
