As a recent graduate I think it's an excellent idea so what if there are advertisements in the book its certainly not going to affect my grades and that's all that matters.

In enjoyed this post, and wrote a similar one myself at http://www.textbookevaluator.com.

From a financial point of view, sites like Freeloader are going to help students. But from an educational point of view, "caveat emptor" is a helpful phrase, even for someone in personal finance. While some books may be fantastic, others should have gone the way of the dodo, rather than to have been dredged up by the wonders of infinite storage space for bits and bytes.

Thanks for staying abreast of the textbook industry!

As a student, I dont really think this is a good idea. I personally rather buy books with no ads on half.com. Although I haven't seen any textbooks with ads, but I imagine studying a biochemistry textbook with Victoria Secret ads must be very difficult.

Sounds like a great idea. The worst thing for me about buying text books at university was when the lecturer never even referred to them and were pretty much useless other than providing some background reading.

They are also out of date by the following year, especially in technology areas.

This is an interesting concept. I probably would have tried it while I was in school. It would have saved me significant amounts of cash. The main selling point would be the ease of getting a hardcopy of the book to use. Sometimes you need the text with you in class and do not have access to a computer. Also, I usually cannot read more than a page or two on a computer monitor before I go crazy. I still like paper!

I saw in their FAQ section that they offer some kind of print service, but did not give too many details.

Still - innovative idea. I'm impressed.
