I missed going through my goals last month as I was busy with the move, so I definitely want to get through them this month – especially since we’ve reached the half year mark. We’ve made progress in a lot of areas, but still need work in others:
Increase unique visitors to the main site to 5,000 a day
While we’re still well below the 5,000 a day unique mark we had hoped for on average, we did receive our first 5,000+ unique day on the site last month thanks to a good mention. We’ve kind of seen a wave action with our unique hits, but will keep plugging away at them to get as close to the 5,000 mark as we can by the end of the year.
Double membership to 11,500
Sign-ups continue at about 10 a day and we’ve passed the 8,500 sign-up mark, but as mentioned previously, we have deleted a lot of inactive sign-ups from the data base and we still get too many sign-ups with the only reason being to spam the forums (which get deleted quickly). I haven’t really worked on this area at all yet, but should spend a bit more time thinking about ways I can increase these numbers.
Increase sat sites to 50
We have the domains for the 50 sat sites we want, plus more that we are hoping to sell. We now own a total of 85 domains and I’m sure that we’ll be well above 100 by the end of the year. The issue now is getting the sites up so that they can be indexed and something I’ll be concentrating more on this month.
For this little journal, I would like:
Get it into the top 15,000 of all blogs as ranked by technorati (changed to 10,000 in February, changed to 7,500 in March)
I will stop shooting for these numbers as Technorati seems to once again not be updating my site. I have no clue where I currently stand, but I’m far ahead of my original goal and I don’t feel there is a need to spend time on this area any longer:
June 30, 2006 – ????
April 30, 2006 – 9,147 (444 links from 174 sites)
March 31, 2006 – 9,826 (418 links from 153 sites)
February 28, 2006 – 11,920 (306 links from 128 sites)
January 31, 2006 – 14,798 (294 links from 106 sites)
Have at least 200 feed readers
Woohoo – made this goal in half the time I figured it would take. Thanks to everyone that feels my feed is worthwhile subscribing to. I’m quite pleased with this growth and won’t set a new goal for year end, but just continue what I’ve been doing and hopefully some more people will join for the ride.
I’m pretty pleased with the progress we’ve been making, especially since a lot of time was needed for the move and couldn’t be dedicated toward the sites. If we continue on the pace that we have been on, Nate will be able to join on full time at the end of the year which will really allow us to do some fun things we’ve been talking about.
