I live in Los Angeles. I go to full service every two months. I fill up to 7/8 of a tank at my favorite low price station. Then I drive over to the full service station down the street and tell them to fill it up and check everything. They give me 1/8 of a tank and check my car's fluids & tire pressure. It's worth a few bucks not to get my hands and clothes dirty. I always have them tell me how much oil I have (not just if I need it or not) so I know if I need to add some at home. However I have a 2000 Toyota Camry, and I have never had to add oil, I am never low, and it gets taken care of at the time of my regular oil change.

Well, I live in Oregon, and all the stations are "full service". But all they do is pump the gas - they don't check anything. Only once did an attendant wash my windshield. I thought maybe I should tip him! Fortunately, the full service price here is comparable to the self serve in many other states.

In Connecticut, I have had them wash my windshield at full service. They may have occasionally checked the oil.

What state do you live in, that you get all this fancy service?

I can't remember the last time I filled at a full service pump. I agree. If you own a car, you should know the basics of taking care of it.

Full service often means just getting the gas tank full .. I suppose it could be wroth the money if you actually get full service and get the tires checked, and oil checked and the rest.

there are only one or two places that have it where I live. If there's not a garage with the gas station, you can't find it at all.
