Alternative Investments – Domain Names

investing in domain namesI was recently reading an article about domain names and the prices that some of them are fetching and it occurred to me that this is an area where we should start investing. That’s not to say that I believe that I will pick five figure domain names to sell, but it seems to me that I should be able to make a nice return on investment with them with little risk.

Cost: Each domain costs me $6 a year. Since we already have a server for the main and satellite sites, there is no cost to place the site up on the web.

    I thought I was bad with my 30 odd domains, but this guy claims over 10,000.

    I wouldn’t mind 10,000 if I had a bit of content on each and they were all paying for themeselves plus $1 a day 😉

    I’ve invested in a number of domain names and I’m currently working on getting them up and running. I think it’s a great investment that’s easy to make a return on. The profit potential is huge and the loss potential is only the $6 you paid to get the domain! And if it’s a domain that sucks and you can’t make money w/ it…just don’t renew it.

    That is a great idea and way to look at it. Instead of just letting these stupid domain names that I have rot, I could throw a ‘for sale’ sign up on them.
