2006 Goals Review – February

My 2006 goalsI can’t believe it’s already March. This past month just flew by – I felt like I was doing this monthly review just a few days a go for January. I guess it’s time to take a look at how February went:

The first month of the year has come to an end and it’s time to take a quick look at how I progressed toward the goals I set for this year.

Increase unique visitors to the main site to 5,000 a day

A bit of a strange month on this. The numbers of uniques didn’t increase, but the number of page visits increased dramatically. I think part of that was the introduction of the new Real People, Real Finances area as it makes it a lot easier for people to navigate around. Nate and I have been discussing was to try and increase the number of uniques this past week as we both feel we have stalled a bit in this area.

Double membership to 11,500

As mentioned last month, this one is going to be a tough one to accomplish due to clearing out all the emails that were bouncing at the beginning of the year. Nate and I have also been discussing ways we may be able to increase the number of new members that sign up. Currently we get about 10 a day and would love to at least double that number.

Increase sat sites to 50

I managed to get one new satellite site up and running (I’ll do another post on that in a bit) as well as two others partially done. I wish I had been a bit more dedicated as if I had been able to get a few more up earlier, they may have gotten PR in the last update. I’m still behind where I would like to be, but we don’t have a lack of ideas of sites we want to set up. It’s finding the time…

For this little journal, I would like:

Get it into the top 15,000 of all blogs as ranked by technorati

At the beginning of January I had just squeezed into the top 50,000 so I thought the top 15,000 would be a good goal. by the end of January I had reached 14, 798 according to Technorati’s ratings. At that point I readjusted my goal to the top 10,000. I haven’t made it there yet, but I did make a nice stride toward it:

Technorati Rank:

February 28, 2006 – 11,920 (306 links from 128 sites)
January 31, 2006 – 14,798 (294 links from 106 sites)

I’m also happy to report that Technorati finally started to update my blog – I received a surprise email from one of the staff that said she had fixed the problem and it has been updating fairly regularly ever since. Definitely glad to see that.

Have at least 200 feed readers

Woohoo! I broke the 100 reader level this month and passed the half-way point to my goal. Feed readers are now fluctuating between 100 and 120. It looks like I’m still in a pretty good position to meet the goal of 200 by the end of the year.

Overall a decent month toward the goals. I need to work a bit more on the satellite sites, but don’t feel like everything is still moving in a positive direction.
