When I called to renew my insurance 3 months before I turned 25 last year, my agent plugged in the 25 year discount for me. He said that you can apply the discount up to 3 months early. This was with American Family. http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/ask-for-auto-insurance-discounts-early.html

Two things: In NJ, all insurance companies are REQUIRED to give you a discount for taking the defensive driving course for 3 years. just a thought.
