It's a sound concept - the problem is finding soemone that can provide quality content on a consistent basis. It's not impossible, but it also isn't easy.

Seems like one could decide to break-even between ad revenue and paying for content for awhile in hopes that good content will bring in more traffic. As ad revenue increases, the cost of paid content remains fixed, thus creating surplus. In my mind, this is much better than writing everything yourself and making less through ads.

If a site is so successful you can eventually pay people to create content for the site...

That would be the ultimate goal...have a site bringing in enough money for a full time income and also be able to pay someone else to provide all the content for it. Jeffrey in dreamland for a few moments ;)

I like the idea of creating a host of mini-stes. There is no single way to know if a certain site or niche will be profitable, other than trying it out. The costs of hosting and domain names are neglible these days, so the only thing you need to create lots of sites is TIME. If a site is so successful you can eventually pay people to create content for the site, which is what I do with www.tokyoessentials.com Paying someone else for content also creates different interest areas in your site.

I’ve mentioned earlier that site design is not overwhelmingly important, definitely not as much as content. However, do you think of making sites like the timeshare site a bit more attractive? It seems to me that right now, even though the content is good, any visitor would very quickly understand the site went up just to make money.

I'll have to revisit this with Nate. Originally we decided to make the sites bare bones to make them as search engine friendly as possible. Some design improvements are probably in order...

Why wouldn’t you add a casino link to “just one spin? That would seem the best place for it.

The advertiser requests which site they want the link on. The request was to place the casino link on this site so I declined. If it had been for justonespin, then I would have accepted.

These mini sites are cool. My favorite one of yours is SaveMoneyGames, and I've mentioned that one a couple of times.
